fox-simpsons

On Sunday, the population of the cartoon town of Springfield drops by one. On the premiere episode of “The Simpsons” this Sunday, one of the characters will be killed off. The death episode kicks off the animated series’ 26th season. The season premiere is titled “Clown in the Dumps” (clue!?). According to the show description, Krusty retires after being offended as the guest of honor at a cable network roast and Lisa tries to keep Homer safe and well.

Here’s what is known so far about the “Simpsons” death.

Showrunner Al Jean has said that the actor whose character will die has won an Emmy Award for portraying that part. Emmy Award winners for “The Simpsons” include, Dan Castellaneta, Harry Shearer, Hank Azaria, Julie Kavner, Yeardley Smith, Nancy Cartwright, Kelsey Grammer, Jackie Mason and Anne Hathaway.

That covers a lot of characters. Hank Azaria, who has won an Emmy for his “Simpsons” work has said that it is not one of his characters. That would eliminate Carl, Chief Wiggum, Comic Book Guy, Moe Szyslak, Apu and Duffman. That is if you believe Hank Azaria.

Al Jean has also said that it won’t be Edna Krabappel, due to Marcia Wallace’s death.

Listed in the poll below are the characters that have brought a “Simpsons” actor an Emmy. Choose who you think will die this Sunday. Is it someone with the last name “Simpson”? Is Krusty the Clown too obvious of a choice? Is Hank Azaria lying to everyone to throw them off the trail? Vote and then find out Sunday, September 28th at 8 pm et on FOX.
