Gallery Books, a division of Simon and Schuster has confirmed that they won the highly competitive bidding war to publish and book by comedy golden girl Amy Schumer.  The Simon and Schuster imprint reportedly offered Amy Schumer a $9 million dollar advance for the deal, THR is reporting. Eight publishers bid on the book, which is being planned as a series of comedic essays.  The book “will feature personal and observational stories from Schumer that range from the raunchy to the romantic, the heartfelt to the harrowing” according to a statement released by Gallery Books.

Schumer’s Sunday night Emmy win for her series Inside Amy Schumer is believed to have prompted a last minute increase in the bidding prices.  Other high priced female comedians received huge advances for their books, but none as high as Schumer’s $9 million.  Tina Fey, Lena Dunham, Sarah Silverman and Mindy Kaling all received sizeable advances, with Fey previously topping the group after earning a $6 million advance for her bestseller, Bossypants. Jerry Seinfeld reported received more than $7 million in 2008 for a book deal.

The working title for the book is “The Girl With the Lower Back Tattoo.”  Simon & Schuster is expecting the book to have a release date of Fall 2016 which means Schumer had better get busy.  She has quite a few projects in the works including a mother and daughter comedy for Fox, a screenplay she’s writing with with Jennifer Lawrence, and season four of her own Comedy Central series.

It’s been a whirlwind year for Schumer, who released her first film, hosted her first awards show, graced her first magazine cover, and won her first Emmy all in one year. In two weeks, another first; the comedy star will host Saturday Night Live on October 17th.
