Seven Selfies with Kate Willett

It’s a selfie world, and we’re not going to fight it anymore. So our series, Seven Selfies, asks an artist to share seven photos of themselves, taken by themselves, to share their life. We’ve already featured Danny Lobell, Pete Dominick, Blair Socci, Doug Smith & Matt Wayne, Kurt Braunohler & Lauren Cook, Amanda Duarte, Aunty Donna and Emma Willman! Our ninth edition of Seven Selfies, features the hilarious Kate Willett.

She just released her first Netflix comedy special- it’s part of Season Two of The Comedy Line Up, and it’s a great 15 minutes!

Now on to the selfies…..!

#1 Here’s me a few minutes before taping the Comedy Lineup on Netflix. I had to capture my bangs looking better than they will ever look again.

#2 Sometimes comedy brings you really cool places. I was lucky enough to get to do the Melbourne International Comedy Festival this year. Here’s me exploring an alley in Melbourne with the hilarious comic Alex Edelman.

#3 For years I ran a weekly show called “The Mission Position” in San Francisco with friends in the basement of an amazing independent video store called Lost Weekend Video. Sadly, Lost Weekend Video is no longer, but my best comedy memories will always be at that store. Here’s me with long time comedy friend and Mission Producer co-producer Jessica Sele, and Lost Weekend Video owner (and Jawbreaker drummer) Adam Pfahler.

#4 The Punch Line San Francisco is one of the best comedy clubs in the country and I’m proud to call it my home club. Here’s me in the green room with Dana Gould before opening for him.

#5 This August I got to do the first ever Pet-a-llama Comedy Festival in Petaluma started by Dominic Del Bene who produced my album Glass Gutter with Rooftop and who has since gone on to start his own label, Blonde Medicine. I’m with amazing Bay Area comics Irene Tu and Dom Gellin. They are two of my favorite people in the Bay Area comedy scene right now and I highly recommend checking out their work.

#6 This May I got to China and perform in Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Beijing. Here’s me on top of the Great Wall with Beijing comic D2.

#7 Saved the best for last! Margaret Cho is one of my heroes and I was so lucky to get to tour for her. Here’s us backstage at the Castro Theater in San Francisco.
