Today Seth Meyers debuted a new feature on The Late Show, he’s moved his monologue from standing in front of the curtain, to his desk, and changed the tone to reflect a more SNL Weekend Update/Jon Stewart Daily Show style with graphics and video clips. In an interview today, Meyers said that they were experimenting with the style for now, but that if they remained happy with the change, it could become permanent.

Seth Meyers co-anchored Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update segment with Amy Poehler from hosted  from 2006 to 2008, and then held the position solo from 2008 to 2013, and then went back to co-anchoring from 2013-2014 for a total of eight years behind the desk.  After Meyers left Saturday Night Live in 2014, Colin Jost took over the position, and currently shares the gig with newcomer Michael Che.

Maybe Lorne will consider a few SNL crossover guests update style once the show returns in the fall.
