Senate Passes Immigration Reform Bill

The U.S. Senate passed a bill yesterday that includes a path to citizenship for an estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants who arrived before December 31, 2011 and an increased budget for border security including 20,000 new Border Patrol agents, 700 miles of fencing, unmanned drones and electronic surveillance. According to analysts, the bill will most likely face a tougher crowd in the Republican-dominated House of Representatives. Vice President Biden warned the chamber not to boo or cheer when the results were read, though he did start a slow clap of his own.
