Jerry Seinfeld says he knows which show is currently the best comedy series on television. And it’s not the endless reruns of “Seinfeld” in syndication. Seinfeld loves “Portlandia”. He told Vulture that he’s obsessed with it. “I mean, wow, it’s just too beyond brilliant. I was just in Portland, and everywhere you go, it’s like, is this a sketch, or is this the real show?” Portlandia is the sketch comedy show starring and created by Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein and executive produced by Lorne Michaels for IFC.

Not only does Seinfeld think Portlandia is the best thing going today, he thinks it’s “easily one of the best comedies of all time”. But then he adds – “What do I know about comedy?”

He does have a favorite gimmick that he loves on the show. “You know what they’re really good at? We kind of did this on my show: They’ve got extremely mean waiters, and random people who are really mean for no reason. I love it when people are difficult and hostile for absolutely no reason. I don’t know why, but that’s really funny.”

That’s also why Toni and Candace are his favorite Portlandia residents. Portlandia returns for a 5th season next year on IFC.
