Finally the world is finding out the story behind rap artist Wale’s infamous phone call to Complex Magazine about being left off their 50 best albums list for 2013. In the phone call, he loses it over the omission and threatens violence against their offices.
It turns out the artist responsible for making the “Mixtape About Nothing” inspired by “Seinfeld” was getting advice from Jerry Seinfeld right before he made that phone call. Wale wanted to keep it cool and together. He was actually fine with not being on the list, until Seinfeld started talking to him over lunch. It was Jerry Seinfeld who suggested Wale threaten the company and drop the “n-word”. This video found on Digg captures the whole conversation leading up to the phone call.
