Amy Schumer has sold the rights to her movie, I Feel Pretty at the Cannes Film Festival. According to sources, the movie sold for close to $15 million and is guaranteed to release on 2,000 screens. The buyer is STXfilms.
Screenwriters Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein direct the film in which Schumer plays a woman whose struggles with feelings of inadequacy disappears after she awakens from a fall as the most confident woman on the planet, suddenly believing she is beautiful. Her newfound confidence is empowering at least initially. But what will happen when she realizes her appearance never changed? The movie will start shooting in Boston this summer.
“Amy is a spectacularly talented comedienne and actress and this story could not be more perfectly suited to her incisive observational skills and humor,” said STX Chairman Adam Fogelson. “We are excited to be working with her and we love adding I Feel Pretty to STX’s growing list of female-driven comedies. Abby and Marc are among my favorite comedy screenwriters working today and they have a fantastic vision as directors for this film.”
Schumer is currently starring in Snatched with Goldie Hawn, in theaters now.
