Today Amy and Chuck Schumer spoke to the press on the steps of New York City Hall to announce the next steps in their campaign for gun control. Both Schumers also tweeted their message to their fans and supporters with Amy asking her followers to hashtag #aimingforchange and Chuck hashtagging #enoughisenough.
The measures the Schumers proposed today are more detailed than those they discussed at their last press conference in August shortly after two women were killed during a screening of Amy’s movie Trainwreck in Lafayette, Louisiana. The pair of Schumers are seeking legislation to close background check loopholes, strengthen background checks, and make gun trafficking a federal crime.
On Saturday Schumer tweeted that she dedicated her recent stand up comedy special Mayci Breaux and Jillian Johnson, who were the victims of the Lafayette shooting.
Chuck Schumer has been active elsewhere in the comedy world this weekend. He appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to participate in a bit with Howard Stern.
