Sarah Silverman Tells Howard Stern She Saw Louis C.K. Jack and It Was Fine, But That’s Not Sitting Well With C.K. Accuser

Last year after news that Louis C.K. was somewhat of a serial masturbator made worldwide headlines, Sarah Silverman went on her Hulu show and said she couldn’t be objective about the issue. Now we know why. It’s not just because Louis was her friend, it’s because she experienced C.K.’s unusual fetish first hand. And she was fine with it. If this sounds somewhat familiar, that’s because we already knew that Sarah’s sister, Laura Silverman had watched C.K. masturbate. during a cross country trip. She had tweeted about it at the time the news hit the media. She described his masturbatory interactions with her as ‘Not criminal,” but compulsive, rude and gross.

Seems Laura isn’t the only Silverman in the family who had that experience. “I don’t know if I’m going to regret saying this,” Sarah told Stern. “I’ve known Louis forever, I’m not making excuses for him, so please don’t take this that way. We are peers. We are equals. When we were kids, and he asked if he could masturbate in front of me, sometimes I’d go, ‘F— yeah I want to see that!’”

Sarah says she doesn’t really think Louis realized his sudden fame created a different dynamic with women. That doesn’t excuse it, but it may explain it. “At a certain point, when he became influential, not even famous, but influential in the world of comedy, it changes,” she said. But maybe he didn’t realize things had changed. “But the dynamic was different and it was not okay.”

She isn’t comparing their encounters to what the women who reported the sexual misconduct to the New York Times last fall, because there was no power dynamic complicating their situation, Sarah said. “It’s not analogous,” she said. “He could offer me nothing. We were only just friends.” She also says she dug it. “Sometimes, yeah, I wanted to see it, it was amazing. Sometimes I would say, ‘F—ing no, gross,’ and we got pizza.”

For the record, since everyone is being asked to take a side these days- she does think its fine that C.K. is performing again, although she expressed a wish that he would talk about the elephant in the room.

It didn’t take long for C.K. accuser Louis C.K. to be firing about about Silverman’s comments on Twitter. Corry wanted to make it clear that at the time she was propositioned by C.K., she was his equal, and that she did not see that as a relevant issue. “I too was his equal on the set the day he decided to sexually harrass [sic] me. He took away a day I worked years for and still has no remorse. He’s a predator who victimized women for decades and lied about it.”

Silverman quickly apologized. “You’re right- you were equals and he fucked with you and it’s not ok. I’m sorry, friend. You are so talented and so kind.”
