Sarah Silverman Calls Hulu ‘Cheap’ on New Podcast

Sarah Silverman made some waves appearing on a new podcast hosted by The Daily Beast’s Matt Wilstein. According to an article in TDB, Silverman, whose show “I Love You America” was recently cancelled by Hulu, hesitated for only a few seconds before talking some trash about her former bosses. ““I probably shouldn’t. Eh, fuck it. Guess I’ll just burn this one down,” she said before sharing with Wilstein that the streaming network was too cheap to pay for her hair and make-up when she attended the Emmy awards, because she nominated for an Emmy for her Hulu series. She says she was “flummoxed” when she got a $1,500 bill for Emmy hair/makeup and noted that even Comedy Central paid for that kind of expense if their shows were nominated.

And when Silverman was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, she was surprised not to get any congratulations from the streaming network-not even an email. Netflix, who she wasn’t even working with at the time, sent her roses.

“Wouldn’t it be worth them paying $1,500 to not have me on Matt Wilstein’s podcast saying Hulu wouldn’t pay $1,500 for an Emmy for their network?

The Last Laugh: A Daily Beast Podcast premieres tomorrow, March 26th with Silverman as their first guest and plans to cover what it’s like to be a comedian in this current cultural and political moment.
