Robin Williams’ Family Upset After Porn Star Cast to Play Robin in British Doc Series
Channel 5 in the U.K. is doing an episode of their documentary series “Autopsy” on the last days of Robin Williams. Just the fact that the television documentary is happening at all is disturbing to Robin’s family, but along with that, is Channel 5’s decision to cast a male porn star who resembles Robin as the late comedian.
“Autopsy” is a series that the channel has produced surrounding celebrity deaths, including Michael Jackson, Karen Carpenter, Whitney Houston, Brittany Murphy and Michael Hutchence. The porn star, Alain Poudensan, will play Robin Williams in reenactments of his suicide. Poudensan posted a photo of himself and Robin Williams from when they met on his website. The Daily Mirror says a source with the program said, “The way he killed himself was pretty gruesome. Producers have had to tone it down for TV.”
A friend of the Williams’ family reportedly also talked to the Mirror saying, “Why anyone would want to make such a programme is beyond comprehension. His wife and family will be utterly dismayed that someone is seeking to profit from Robin’s death in such a grotesque way.” The friend added, “With each passing day the pain for Robin’s family eases just a fraction but something as disturbing as this just takes them backwards.” She also told the Mirror that the family hoped public outrage would make Channel 5 reconsider the project.
