Robin Williams (1951-2014)


Oscar winning actor and legendary comedian Robin Williams died this morning at the age of 63. While it was not confirmed that his death was a suicide, his representative issued a statement this morning:
“Robin Williams passed away this morning. He has been battling severe depression of late. This is a tragic and sudden loss. The family respectfully asks for their privacy as they grieve during this very difficult time.”
Entertainment Weekly reported that the coronors office issued a statement, that the death is being investigated as “suicide due to asphyxia.” The 9-1-1 phone call came in just before noon today.
Williams was an Oscar winning actor with memorable roles in films like Good Morning Vietnam, Good Will Hunting, The Bird Cage and The Fischer King, The World According To Garp, Popeye, and World’s Greatest Dad, he was also an iconic stand up comedian, and an avid advocate for numerous charities. His fundraising efforts for organizations like Comic Relief, Children’s Promise, and St Judes were an important part of his life.
