Ricky Gervais Leads Campain To Save Dogs From Slaughter

Ricky Gervais is helping to lead a campaign to save dogs from being slaughtered as part of a festival in China (via The New York Daily News). During the Chinese Yulin Dog Meat festival, Gervais says that “they steal people’s pets to torture & eat”, “they believe torturing the dog makes the meat tastier,” and”they beat them, burn them, skin & boil them alive!”
The Humane Society International is raising money to fight the event by intercepting the trucks carrying the dogs. A change.org petition has received over 1.5 million signatures so far calling for animal rights and animal justice.
Gervais’s tweets have included disturbing images, which he apologized for, but felt was necessary in the interests of the cause. Gervais is an outspoken advocate for animal rights.

They believe torturing the dog makes the meat tastier. They beat them, burn them, skin & boil them alive! Disgusting sub human cunts. #Yulin

They steal people's pets to torture & eat. What would you do to someone who you caught torturing your dog? I hope you'd stop them somehow.

Dear Morons, stopping the #YulinDogMeatFestival is less to do with them being dogs & more to do with them being tortured and skinned alive.

Sincere apologies. I didn't want to have to tweet these photos. Burnt & boiled alive for flavour. #StopYuLin2015 pic.twitter.com/NF3RKvGQ1X
