Rick and Morty Fans Upset After McDonald’s Szechuan Sauce Fiasco

Rick and Morty fans showed up in droves for a chance get a super-limited special edition “Szechuan Sauce” at McDonald’s this week. The fast food restaurant totally fumbled the promotion for the “super-limited” sauce that Rick has been craving. For those unaware, Rick is obsessed with McDonald’s “Mulan” Szechuan sauce, which he called the most delicious sauce in history. In 1998, Rick explains, McDonald’s had a promotion for the Disney film Mulan, where they created Szechuan sauce. It was “the moment that changed everything.” Rick tells Morty and they never made the sauce again, and he is driven by a need to somehow get back to that perfect taste.
McDonald’s must have underestimated both the popularity of Rick and Morty and the tenacity of their fans when it came up with the idea of offering a one day only promotion, offering Szechuan sauce in highly limited quantities.
The whole thing turned into a nightmare with long lines, not enough of the dipping sauce to go around, and in some cases, certain locations not having any for customers at all, causing the angry Rick and Morty fans to become irate, and get #boycottmcdonalds trending. There’s videos from locations around the country which got the McDonald’s Boycott trending on Saturday.
Sorry, just to clarify, these are adults upset that they can’t have McNuggets sauce from their favorite cartoon!? Got it?
