Film critic Rex Reed was at the Toronto International Film Festival and is saying five of the movies screened there are masterpieces. They are:
- The Danish Girl – Directed by Tom Hooper and starring Eddie Redmayne. It’s about one of the worlds first recipients of gender reassignment surgery.
- Truth – Starring Robert Redford as Dan Rather and Cate Blanchett as Mary Mapes. It’s a film about the Killian Documents controversy.
- 45 Years – The British film stars Charlotte Rampling and is centered around a couple’s 45th wedding anniversary and how news from their past changes both their lives.
- The Lady In The Van – Another British film, starring Maggie Smith. It tells the true story of a homeless woman who lived in the driveway of an author for 15 years.
- Spotlight – Starring Mark Ruffalo, Rachel McAdams and Michael Keaton. It’s about the Boston Globes “Spotlight” Team, investigative journalists.
You know his opinion is skewed when he doesn’t include X-Men: Age of Apocalypse on his list.
