Peter Dinklage Beats Out Oprah For Part In Melissa McCarthy Comedy

Peter Dinklage has joined the cast of the new Melissa McCarthy film, “Michelle Darnell”. According to Variety, details on Dinklage’s part are pretty vague, but he will be playing the antagonist in the film.
The movie is being written by Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone, who’s also directing the comedy. The part that Dinklage scored was up for grabs because McCarthy and Falcone weren’t sure if it should be cast with a man or a woman. Names that were considered for the role were Sandra Bullock, Jon Hamm and Oprah Winfrey. Just chalk this up to yet another part that Oprah has lost to Peter Dinklage.
In “Michelle Darnell”, Melissa McCarthy plays the title character that she created with the Groundlings. She plays a businesswoman on top of the world, but that world comes crashing down when she’s sent to prison for insider trading. After she’s released, “Michelle Darnell” tries to rebuild her life and career with an unforgiving public.
The movie is due to be released April 8th, 2016.
