NY Clinic That Treated Joan Rivers No Longer Accredited By The Feds

Yorkville Endoscopy, the New York City clinic where Joan Rivers went into cardiac arrest leading to her death last September, has lost its federal accreditation with the U.S. government. This means the clinic is no longer eligible to receive rreimbursementsfrom Medicare and Medicaid for treatments and services for beneficiaries.

According to ABC News, the federal Centers for Medicare Services said, “Therefore, CMS is terminating the Medicare health benefits agreement between Yorkville Endoscopy and the secretary, effective Jan. 31.”

In the Joan Rivers case, Yorkville Endoscopy was declared deficient in four categories after an initial investigation including take a photo of Joan Rivers while she was under sedation, improperly documenting how much sedation was used and the clinic “failed to identify deteriorating vital signs and provide timely intervention during the procedure.”

Joan Rivers daughter, Melissa, had no comment on the report.
