Was Nikki Glaser’s Dancing Career Ended Abruptly Because of a Joke?

DWTS brings out the gossipy girl website side in all of us, so before we say goodbye to this nutty trainwreck of a reality show, we’ll take one more look at Nikki Glaser’s short-lived dance career.
Website Meaw (Media, Entertainment, Arts, Worldwide) writes in their DWTS week one coverage, “Glaser was the one hit with the first round of elimination which was fueled by her dishing a rather inappropriate joke on air.”
Anyone who watched Glaser’s short stint on the reality tv show might have noticed she caught host Tom Bergeron off guard when she made a pretty tame joke- tame by our standards, but apparently not by the standards of the average Dancing With the Stars viewer.
Good Housekeeping also pointed the finger at Glaser, “‘Dancing With the Stars’ Celeb Nikki Glaser Cracked a Pretty Explicit Joke Before Being Eliminated”
Practically all the week one coverage commented on host Tom Bergeron’s nervous handling of what he thinks he heard. Or was he the one who made the dirty joke?
Here’s what actually happened. After a harsh reaction from the judges, Glaser said she’s fine with that, because she has “faced a lot of rejection in her life and a lot of rough sets.” Bergeron blushed and said, “rough sets, not sex,” and Glaser said she’s had both.
Really it was all Bergeron’s fault. Nikki, after all, Glaser said sets. In an interview, she said outright, “It was a good moment but I just wanna be very clear: I did not mean to say something that dirty on television and I did not mean it that way!” she laughs. “I meant that I bomb a lot in standup!”
Bergeron is definitely a fan, and maybe even watched Glaser’s “Not Safe” on Comedy Central to even think she had gone in that direction. She hadn’t. In fact, Glaser could have taken offense over Tom’s comment. She wouldn’t and she didn’t.
There’s a lot of bickering over week one results, with plenty of fans feeling that Bachelor alum Grocery Joe should have been down in that bottom group. Maybe things would have been different. And we’re not sure why Glaser’s injury right before the season premiere didn’t earn her a little more latitude from the judges.
ET says the crowd was sad to say goodbye to Nikki even if we didn’t see that on tv. We were too.
Recount? Bring back Nikki?
Cause while we’re glad to have Nikki back in New York City, we would have loved to see a Waltz before she went.
