Nikki Glaser Talks About Her Fear of Podcasts On Alison Rosen’s Podcast

Comedian and TV host Nikki Glaser has a fear of podcasts. “I’ve been turning them down a lot because I say too much and then people get hurt, or I feel like the Trevor Noah thing is going to happen to me,” she told Alison Rosen on Rosen’s podcast “Alison Rosen is Your New Best Friend.”
Her fear of podcasting started when her co-producer and boyfriend broke up with her after listening to her overly frank conversations during her own podcast. At the time, she was having problems communicating with him about her relationship frustrations, so she would tell him all was well, but then share her real feelings on her podcast, “We Know Nothing.”
Nikki and her boyfriend were (and still are) developing a TV pilot called NSFW (Not Safe For Work), which she describes as a sex talk show, so he started listening to her podcast to get an idea about how she talked about sex and dating during the podcast.
“He spent a whole weekend listening to a lot of episodes, and he was just devastated,” Nikki told Rosen. “And he had reason to be because I was scared of communicating to him about my frustrations with whatever we were going through. I would pretend like everything was fine with him, but then I’d go on the podcast and really let it out.”
Comedy Central greenlit the pilot, Nikki and her boyfriend are back together, and they’re expecting to find out very soon whether “Not Safe For Work” will get picked up to air on Comedy Central. She described the premise to Rosen as “a sex talk show that has two panelists, but we also do social experiments out in the field. It’s just a way to talk about sex openly. It’s like, yeah, we’re all fucking, let’s talk about it. It’s really fun, and it’s exactly what I want to be doing.”
