The Women in Comedy Festival (WICF) is celebrating its 10th Anniversary in 2019, and plans to deliver a festival worthy of such a celebration. Phoebe Robinson who you know as one half of the hit podcast and HBO Show 2 Dope Queens will headline the festival along with Nikki Glaser, star of SiriusXM’s U UP, Comedy Central’s Not Safe w/ Nikki Glaser, and Dancing with the Stars.
This year’s festival is sponsored by HBO and will take place on May 2 through 5 bringing together 200 artists. “HBO is excited to be a part of this wonderful festival which showcases great comedy talent. This will be our third-year attending, and our second year as a sponsor. We’re looking forward to getting to know a new group of WICF comics,” said Kelly Edwards, Vice President of Talent Development, HBO.
Tickets go on sale to the general public this Friday, January 25, 2019 at 12 p.m. ET.
Phoebe Robinson is a multi-talented stand-up comedian, New York Times bestselling writer, and actress. She is best known as the co-creator and co-star of the hit podcast 2 Dope Queens. Phoebe and her co-host, Jessica Williams, formerly of The Daily Show, share stories about sex, romance, race, hair journeys, and living in New York. Robinson authored The New York Times bestseller, You Can’t Touch My Hair: And Other Things I Still Have To Explain, a collection of essays about race, gender and pop culture. Robinson’s second book Everything’s Trash, But It’s Okay was published in October 2018.
Nikki Glaser is the creator, executive producer, and star of the popular Comedy Central series Not Safe w/ Nikki Glaser. The show, which premiered in February 2016, featured some of comedy’s funniest voices as they joked and shared their personal stories about sex, relationships, and other taboo topics. Glaser’s first one-hour standup special, Perfect, premiered on Comedy Central in April 2016, and in 2017, her half-hour special The Standups was released by Netflix to rave reviews. In addition, she’s also host of the SiriusXM morning show You Up w/ Nikki Glaser on Comedy Central Radio.
Wild Horses a longform improv team made up of four best friends will also perform.Stephanie Allynne (Amazon’s One Mississippi), Mary Holland (Starz’ Blunt Talk), Lauren Lapkus (Netflix’s Orange is the New Black, Jurassic World), and Erin Whitehead (HBO’s Animals)will perform their long-running show The Perspective, where they get cozy with each other in an engaging, hilarious, and candid conversation, followed by an improv set.
