The Nightly Show Makes Its First Appearance to Solid Reviews

Larry Wilmore’s Nightly Show premiered last night.  The early reviews are solid, although the consensus seems to be that the show could use a few more laughs, and twitter seemed to like the vibe.  The format opens with the usual suspect- a monologue, and then the guests come hang, panel style, with a member of Wilmore’s team- last night Shenaz Treasury sat in with guests comedian Bill Burr, rapper Talib Kweli, and Senator Corey Booker. The theme of last nights show was the State of the Black Protest.

The tone seemed to be aiming to be more controversial than funny, although there were solid laughs.  In the clip below, Wilmore talks about protests, wishes the black community had a high profile black person who could go to bat for the community other than Al Sharpton, and made an Oprah joke.

Tomorrow night Wilmore will be talking about Bill Cosby. Looking forward to watching Wilmore #KeepIt100.
