Nebraska Players Voicing Support For Their Fired Coach
With a 67-27 record in seven seasons, head football coach Bo Pelini was fired by Nebraska at the end of the regular season. Even though the players support incoming coach Mike Riley, they still feel like Coach Pelini was done dirty. And they made it perfectly clear as the team prepared to take on USC in the Holiday Bowl. At the pregame luncheon the day before, many players booed when Nebraska Chancellor Harvey Perlman took the stage, while others turned their backs to him as he spoke. When team buses traveled to the stadium, players left an open seat to represent Coach Pelini. And during Saturday night’s game, senior OL Jake Cotton replaced the numbers on his helmet with the letters “BO.”
The Cornhuskers wound up losing to the Trojans 42-45 under an interim coach. But the school’s administration now knows how their players feel about their coach’s firing. God help them when Faux Pelini makes his voice heard.
