A former music industry worker, Julie Farman, has posted a story saying she was sexual harassed back in 1991 by members of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. She says that the event was “a 3 on the 1-10 scale of sexual harassment” and adds she downplayed the experience because it was common in music industry at that time. Forman, who at times takes a humorous approach in telling her story says “Fuck the Red Hot Chili Peppers and the misogynistic culture of the music industry that kept me from speaking up in 1991. I wish I had. I’m not naive enough to think it would have made much of a difference, but if it kept just one person from having to hear “Californication,” it would have been a start.”
Just think, if we educate people on coming forward, who knows what bad art we could have avoided!
