Montreal Canadiens’ Sad Youppi Pays Off Tonight Show Bet
When the NHL Eastern Conference Finals started between the Montreal Canadiens and New York Rangers, the Canadiens challenged Jimmy Fallon to a bet: Montreal wins, he does his monologue in a Habs sweater; NY Rangers win, Youppi the Canadiens’ mascot walks around Montreal in a Rangers jersey and must ride a mechanical bull.
The bet was set up on Twitter.

Throughout the series, Fallon played nice by posting Instagrams of himself enjoying poutine and a bottle of Molson (with the hashtag #YouppiMechanicalBull).
But in the end, the Rangers won in six, and true to their word, the Canadiens changed their avatar and Youppi made the rounds in his Fallon sweater. He actually does look sad, especially when sitting in front of the Expo’s old haunt.
