Mister Rogers Biopic Will Star Tom Hanks

TriStar Pictures has acquired the rights to make the Fred Rogers biopic You Are My Friend. The film will star Tom Hanks and will be directed by Marielle Heller who previously directed Diary of a Teenage Girl. Production begins in September and the film will focus on Rogers friendship with Tom Junod, an award winning and cynical journalist who unhappily agreed to write a profile piece on Mr. Rogers and found that Rogers changed his outlook on life.
A Rogers documentary premiered at Sundance this year and does not have a release date just yet.
Get ready for an excellent Nike tie-in with the release of the Air Rogers.
