Mike Epps Graduated From High School At 45

Congratulations to comedian Mike Epps on graduating from High School this year. Earlier this week, media began reporting that Mike Epps, who is a proud father and granddad, got his High School diploma at the age of 45. Epps announced the news on his Instagram, writing “”My mom said today one of her dreams came true. Finally got my high school diploma. From a class clown to becoming world renowned #nevergiveup #mikeepps #unclebuck #TechHS”
Thursday night, Mike appeared on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert and shared some of his Instagram graduation cap and gown photos. He said he feels good about finally getting his diploma and making his mom proud, although he didn’t impress his granddaughter who found something fishy about the whole thing. Back when he was in high school the first time, he said he was working a lot of restaurant jobs, like Steak and Ale, Ponderosa and Waffle House, but he couldn’t keep a job because he was always cracking jokes. “So I started working on being funny, and I got a funny job,” he said.
Epps left Indiana to move to Atlanta with his aunt because he thought Atlanta was a place people went to get famous. Unfortunately by the time he got there, his aunt told Mike he couldn’t stay with her because she had gotten married, so with nowhere else to go, Mike agreed to hide out in the basement until his new uncle went to work every day at 3pm. That lasted about three weeks before he was discovered, but it all worked out and now Mike’s starring in Uncle Buck, a network series remake of the John Candy movie.
Uncle Buck premieres on ABC on June 14.
