Michael Ian Black is not only a great comedian and a great stand up, actor, writer and podcaster, he’s also a prolific children’s book writer. All his children’s books are weirdly wonderful, but there is nothing as strangely amazing as his latest- A Child’s First Book of Trump. The intention behind the book, he explained, is to help you explain to your children what a Trump is. The book isn’t out till this summer, but the good news is, MIB read a few passages from the book on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Tuesday.
You should hit the clip and hear MIB read the passages himself, but for those of you with poor wifi, we don’t want you to miss out entirely on the preview. “The beasty is called an American Trump. It’s skin is bright orange, its figure is plump; its fur so complex you might get enveloped, its hands are sadly, underdeveloped.”
“Now where does it live? On flat screen TVs. It rushes toward every camera it sees. It thrives in the most contentious conditions and excretes the most appalling emissions.”
The book will be in stores in July, but you can pre-order right now. You can also check out Michael Ian Black on season one of the Jim Gaffigan Show on TV Land and the upcoming season two, starting up again in June.
Michael also talked a little bit about the announcement that there will be another Wet Hot American Summer series on Netflix. The movie and TV series took place in the early 80’s and the new Netflix series will take place in the 90’s. “Part of the joke of the entire thing,” Michael explained to anyone who isn’t already in the know, “was, when we first made the movie we were all close to thirty playing fifteen, sixteen, seventeen years old. Then when we did the TV series 15 years later, we were in our forties playing the exact same ages as when we made the movie. Now we’re also in our forties playing early twenties’.”
So hang in there, plenty of Michael Ian Black awesomeness is coming. In June, July and beyond.
