Melissa McCarthy Joins the SNL Five Timers Club For a Few Minutes

Melissa McCarthy pulls out all the stops to celebrate her fifth time hosting Saturday Night Live. Becoming a five time host is a gigantic moment for any SNL host, as it’s a pretty exclusive club.
The Five Timers Club started in 1990 when Steve Martin, Paul Simon, and Elliott Gould joined Tom Hanks on stage the night he hosted for the fifth time. Over the years others have joined, Bill Murray, Christopher Walken, Alec Baldwin, Justin Timberlake, John Goodman, Drew Barrymore, Candace Bergen, Danny DeVito, Ben Affleck, Chevy Chase, and Buck Henry.

A big moment like that deserves a big song, and Melissa busted out a killer parody of “Born to Be Alive” using the lyrics “Born to Host Five Times.” Her party included dancers, special glasses and Keenan Thompson dressed up in a giant glittery gold 5, but it was Keenan who broke the news to Melissa, that she wasn’t yet a five timer, she can’t count the SNL40 as a time hosting the show, and she wasn’t getting a jacket. He did offer her a consolation banana.

Don’t be sad Melissa, you’ll be in that club soon enough. Don’t you have a big movie coming out this summer? Is July too soon to host again?
