McCartney, Kanye, Timberlake, Simon and Swift Announced As Musical Guests For SNL 40

Saturday Night Live celebrates its 40th anniversary on Sunday, February 15th. With the special being three hours long, SNL will need multiple musical guests. According to Rolling Stone, Paul Simon, Paul McCartney, Justin Timberlake, Kanye West and Taylor Swift will all appear on the anniversary special. Everything should be fine with Taylor Swift and Kanye being on the same stage. This time Taylor isn’t getting an award.
Paul Simon was the second host in the show’s history. He made appearances as either a host, musical guest or a combination of both in each of SNL’s first three seasons and multiple appearances through out Saturday Night Live’s 40 year history.
Paul McCartney has made 6 appearances on SNL, 4 of them as the musical guest. Justin Timberlake has 9 Saturday Night Live appearances on his resume including hosting, as a special guest and musical guest including with ‘N Sync. Kanye West is a 5 time musical guest with his latest appearance in 2013. Taylor Swift is a one time host and two time musical guest.
NBC also announced the network will host a special red carpet event for the evening. The network’s morning show will handle the red carpet duties for its late night weekend show. The Today Show’s Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie, Carson Daly and Al Roker will host“SNL 40th Red Carpet Live” at 7pm et before the special begins at 8pm et on NBC.
