Louis C.K. and Albert Brooks must have really hit it off co-starring in The Secret Life of Pets because according to THR, FX is announcing that the duo are teaming up again to create a pilot for FX. Brooks and C.K. will create, write and co-star in an animated series pilot for FX, which we’re comfortable saying they’re creating a series, because really, who is going to turn down a pilot created by two of the best comedians in the business?
The pilot is currently untitled and details are scant, but its pretty exciting news. This will be Brooks’ first television project, and his first time producing and starring in a comedy project aimed at adults since Looking for Comedy in the Muslim World in 2005. Since then Brooks had memorable roles in This is 40 on the comedy side, and Drive and Concussion on the dramatic side, and wrote a bestselling novel, 2030. Brooks is also starring in a sequel to the smash hit Finding Nemo, still in production.
FX of course is the home to Louis’ critically acclaimed series Louie which has so far had a five season run, and is currently on an extended hiatus while C.K. pursues other projects. Two of those other projects include producing the series Baskets which stars Zach Galifianakis, and Better Things which is a Pamela Adlon vehicle both for FX, and C.K. is also busy executive producing One Mississippi for Amazon, which stars Tig Notaro.
The Secret Live of Pets comes out this summer.
If there was an award for most anticipated comedy project of 2016, this untitled project one goes right to the top of the list. Brooks/CK could be the best combination since Brooks and anyone he works with. And that Louis fella aint no slouch either.
