Louie’s Girlfriend’s Hungarian Dialogue Translated

This season of  Louie has featured a six episode arc titled “Elevator” in which he meets and falls in love with a Hungarian girl (Amia) who speaks no English.  Since the first episode in the arc, we’ve been patiently waiting for someone to translate Amia’s Hungarian dialogue. Partly because we just wanted to know what she was saying, but also because we were hoping Louis CK’s  attention to detail would mean at least one bonus/Easter egg in the dialogue.

We knew someone would undertake the translation sooner or later, and we’re happy that  the Slate.com staff answered the call.  Now, thanks to Slate, all of Amia’s lines have been translated from Hungarian to English, and you can finally find out what she’s been really saying to Louie all this time.

Some of the secrets revealed include, what does “mosht” actually mean (now)?   And was Amia disgusted with Louie when he ate that pie (no she wasn’t)?    Other mysteries that are solved include, how do you say “blow dryer” in Hungarian, what did she think of sex with Louie, and what was that comment she made to Jim Norton in the Comedy Cellar hallway. Of course now that we have the translations, we’re expecting to have to wait approximately 1.3 days before we start seeing those witty alternate translations all over YouTube.

For now, enjoy.
