Friday Nore Davis and friends celebrated the release of his upcoming comedy album, Too Woke. The album officially drops on Black Friday, November 23, 2018 wide. The album will be released in two volumes of 7 tracks each and available anywhere comedy is sold or streamed. 100 ticket-holders at last night’s release party received the double album during a special gallery show at Urban Gallery where the album art, designed by Frank William Miller Jr. was revealed. Phoebe Robinson and Damien Lemon and more special guests celebrated with live comedy, cupcakes and champagne. In addition to the cover art reveal, the gallery show included various album covers designed by upwards of 20 different visual artists.
Too Woke is being described as disarming and endearing, confronting and examining toxic masculinity, white supremacy, the MTA vs Metro North, trans rights, vegan diets, rap egos and the simple idea of not being ‘too woke’ on account of needing to sleep sometimes. The album was recorded to sold out crowds at Union Hall in Brooklyn, New York early 2018.
