Lewis Black Endorses Bernie Sanders

Comedian Lewis Black is known for many things: being reserved is not one of them, and he’s letting everyone know who he’s backing for President.

In promoting the new Pixar film Inside Out, in which Black fittingly voices the emotion of Anger, he gave an interview with The Daily Beast where he touched on, well, whatever Black wanted to address. Black focused on one of his favorite subjects: the political system.

Black, known for his political rants, revealed that he finally has a candidate he can support. “I’ve said from the beginning that I’m a socialist,” Black told The Daily Beast. “And now I have a candidate running: [Senator Bernie] Sanders is running for the Democratic nomination, which is a little upsetting to me, because I wish he’d just say, ‘Fuck ’em.’ But that’s the way of the world.”

Black added that “this big fear of socialists taking over the United States,” is simply “a form of dementia.” Black identifies as a socialist, because neither party in his view appropriately addresses a major issue in the United States: income inequality.

Despite his endorsement of Sanders, he remains disgusted by the election process. Tapping into his custom-Black rage, he said:

“At some point, some adult somewhere in the room has to stand up and say that this kind of nonsense has to stop in terms of the amount of time and money we spend electing people,” Black says. “This is nuts. For a country that doesn’t want to spend money, we want to spend an awful lot of money watching a group of idiots learn how to become presidential in front of us.”

Black did express relief that Donald T-Rump had entered the race, saying that it made his job easier. “Donald Trump is running for president. That’s already a punchline. That’s the joke! The joke’s done!”
