In 2005, Dave Chappelle walked away from the very successful “Chappelle’s Show” on Comedy Central. He was reportedly getting paid a huge sum of money for season 3 and left for Africa when it came time to start shooting it.
Last night on Letterman, Dave Chappelle went through the rumors with Dave and explained what was real and what was false about his “disappearance”. He explains where he went and what he did. And more importantly, he explains the difference between $10 million and $50 million. Basically the difference is $40 million.
“Technically,” he explained, “I never quit. I’m seven years late for work.”
Does he regret his choices? The short answer is, sometimes when he listens to a Jay-Z record, yes.
