Last Comic Standing Crew Weighs In On Trevor Noah’s Tweets

When Trevor Noah was announced as the new host of the Daily Show on Comedy Central earlier this week, controversy over some past tweets of his started almost immediately. Some of Noah’s past tweets with jokes about women and Jews were looked at with a lot of online scrutiny. Some of the cast members of the upcoming season of “Last Comic Standing” on NBC, offered their opinions on Noah, online outrage and tweeting in general.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, LCS judge Kenon Ivory Wayans talked about the Trevor Noah situation on the NBCUniversal Summer Press Tour. Talking about Twitter, he said, It’s a forum for idiots”, adding, “I don’t know why anyone gives any credence to it. It’s just somebody with an opinion, so who cares?”
Wanda Sykes who is the executive producer of “Last Comic Standing” said she has to be very careful with Twitter and other social media because she knows what an ill-received comment can cost. She said, “After a few drinks, I have to watch myself because I’m just one tweet away from ruining it all.”
The new host of LCS Anthony Jeselnik now stays away from Twitter completely. “I don’t tweet anymore, really, because of some of the outrage that I’ve received.” He added that it’s not even people familiar with his work that get upset. “It’s people who wouldn’t come see you live getting upset because of something they saw on the Internet.”
“Last Comic Standing” will have its season 9 premiere on Thursday, July 22nd at 9pm on NBC with host Anthony Jeselnik, judges Kenon Ivory Wayans, Roseanne Barr and newly added judge Norm Macdonald.
