At last night’s Tony Awards, Larry David gave the first Tony non-acceptance speech ever.

In fact, not only did Larry David not win an award, he wasn’t even nominated.  But he will be the most talked about presenter this year, after he gave a very Larry David-esque speech about his favorite subject- himself.

David’s show, “Fish in the Dark” did not get nominated for any awards this year, but that’s okay.  David called himself a “big big man” for showing up anyway, and when co-presenter and former Seinfeld actor Jason Alexander suggested some might call him a loser, David pointed out that he’s greeted by thousands of people each week who “stand as one, applauding until their hands are raw, cheering until their voices are spent, whispering, ‘He’s so much better looking in person,’ and laughing until their faces are contorted in an anguished mask, that can best be described as a sort of Bell’s palsy.”  He added, “People who, if it were up to them, would put aside the obvious anti-Semitism — yeah, that’s right, yeah, I said it; I said it — the anti-Semitism that denies a nomination to a Larry David or a Harvey Weinstein. Then, yes, I am a loser.”

Sunday also was Larry David’s last show on Broadway playing the lead role in “Fish in the Dark.” His Tony co-presenter, Jason Alexander, takes over in the lead role starting tomorrow, June 9.
