Kathy Griffin Thinks It’s Wrong to Simulate the Death of a Public Figure

Kathy Griffin took to twitter today after becoming aware of a video that simulated Donald Trump gunning down members of the media. The New York Times reported on Monday that the video depicts a fake Donald Trump attacking members of the “Church of Fake News” which includes victims who bear the faces or in some cases, logos of those believed to be enemies of President Trump.   PBS, NPR, Politico, The Washington Post, Vice News, and NBC were among the “victims” depicted as were Bernie Sanders, James Comey, Rachel Maddow,  John McCain and Kathy Griffin.

The video was played at a gathering of Trump supporters over the weekend at the Trump National Doral, a resort in Miami, Florida.

Griffin was not amused.  “Im depicted as being murdered by The President of the United States in this video,” she wrote on Twitter. “The left, right & center left me hanging out to dry regarding the Trump mask photo. Please don’t let it happen again.”  She added, “No, this video isn’t a joke to his followers. And it will not be taken as such.”

Griffin was heavily criticized for releasing a photograph holding a severed Trump head in 2017.  The outrage that had followed affected her career significantly.
