Just For Laughs Announces a Big Part of 2019 Lineup

Earlier this week, the Montreal Just For Laughs Comedy festival announced a big chunk of their 2019 slate, filling in the rosters for the Nasty Show, the Ethnic Show and several Galas. We already posted about the Nasty Show news.

Here are more highlights from the announcement.

Cameron Esposito, Sasheer Zamata, Dan Soder, Mark Watson, Adam Conover, Mark Forward, the Lucas Brothers, Nicole Byer, Ron Funches, Pete Correale, Kurt Braunohler, Nish Kumar, Emma Willmann & Matteo Lane, and Beth Stelling, are coming to Off-JFL shows (which as far as we’re concerned are as on-JFL shows as anything else). They’ll be performing on Best of the Fest, Fest at the Nest, Hosts with the Most, Midnight Surprise and the world-famous The Alternative Show hosted by Andy Kindler, all returning to Montreal this year as well as other shows to be announced.

Fred Armisen is making his JFL Debut with a follow up to his Stand Up for Drummers Netflix comedy special.

Nick Kroll will be performing standup for one night only on Thursday, July 25, 2019, at 9:30pm at L’Olympia.

Wanda Sykes is hosting a Gala on Friday, July 26, 2019 at 7:00pm, at Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier at Place des Arts.

There’s a new new faces this year. New Faces: Canada is finally something official and part of the Montreal fest featuring up and coming Canadian talent. New Faces: Canada will take place on Friday, July 26, 2019 at 7:00pm at Salle Ludger-Duvernay at Monument-National. Dates have been announced for the old school New Faces series too! The New Faces shows will take place on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at 7:00pm and 9:30pm at Salle Ludger-Duvernay at Monument-National, the New Faces: Characters and New Faces: Unrepped will take place on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at 7:00pm and 9:30pm at Salle Ludger-Duvernay at Monument-National. New Faces: Creators is set to take place on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at 12:30pm in the Grand Salon Opera at the DoubleTree By Hilton Montreal. Variety’s “10 Comics to Watch” Showcase exposes audiences to the artists making waves in the comedy industry. The 2019 showcase is set to take place on Friday, July 26, 2019 at 9:30pm at Salle Ludger-Duvernay at Monument-National.

Jeff Ross is bringing Roastmasters back to Montreal with the Roastmaster’s Invitational. A 4-night elimination-style, winner-takes-all, ultimate roasting competition, helmed by the Roastmaster himself, Jeff Ross. Wednesday, July 24, 2019 to Saturday, July 27, 2019 at 11:59pm at Club Soda.

The Ethnic Show adds Robby Hoffman, Anthony DeVito, and Rafi Bastos to the already killer lineup of Cristela Alonzo, Gina Yashere and Dave Merheje. The Ethnic Show will be running from Wednesday, July 10, 2019 to Thursday, July 25, 2019 at Club Soda and MTELUS.

Ronny Chieng will be performing 3 nights of his latest show Tone Issues from Tuesday, July 23, 2019 to Thursday, July 25, 2019 at 9:30pm at Gesù.

The Stand-Up Show will feature Jon Dore hosting the series which is filmed in front of a live audience with a roster of cutting-edge talent, performing their very best material as part of The Stand-Up Show with Jon Dore from Thursday, July 25, 2019 through Saturday, July 27, 2019 at 7:00pm and 10:00pm at L’Astral.

Pete Holmes & Friends will be a one-night-only event on Friday, July 26, 2019 at 7:00pm at Club Soda.

Black Thought Presents: Delirious is the exciting new comedy series created and curated by the MC of the legendary Roots crew. Featuring the hottest new comedians, the series will look at popular culture and society through a humorous, yet poignant lens. Black Thought Presents: Delirious will be taking place on Friday, July 26, 2019 at 9:30pm at Club Soda.

Recurring showcase show Brit(ish) will feature host Jimmy Carr and special guest Sarah Millican plus Jamali Maddix, Mawaan Rizwan, Fin Taylor and British musical comedy duo, Flo & Joan on Friday, July 26, 2019 and Saturday, July 27, 2019 at 7:00pm at MTELUS.

Second City Toronto is coming to Montreal with their hit show She The People at the Centaur Theatre from Monday, July 22, 2019 to Thursday July 25, 2019 at 9:30pm, and on Friday July 26, 2019 and Saturday July 27. 2019 at 7:00pm, and 10:00pm. Margaret Trudeau (mother of Canadian PM Justin Trudeau), will be bringing her critically-acclaimed, candid conversation Certain Woman of an Age to Just For Laughs this summer. Mark Forward and Courtney Gilmour will deliver a Canadian State of the Comedy Industry this year for JFL Comedy Pro. They plan to answer some very important questions. Such as, if a punchline is delivered in a Canadian comedy club, but everyone has left for America, who will laugh? Mark Forward and Courtney Gilmour’s “Oh Comedy!” A Canadian Perspective will take place Wednesday, July 24 at 1:15pm, in the Inspiration Room at the DoubleTree By Hilton Montreal.
