“Real cases. Real plaintiffs. Real high judge.”
That’s the slogan for Comedy Central’s new courtroom show The High Court, presided over by Getting Doug with High host and @midnight veteran Doug Benson.
In the 15-minute strip series, which is (very, very) loosely based on Benson’s Getting Doug with High podcast, The Honorable Judge Doug will hear out two parties as they dispute a real small claims case. After hearing both sides, Benson and a guest bailiff will retire to his chambers in order to smoke some weed and deliberate over a final verdict. Both defendant and plaintiff, for better or worse, have agreed to accept whatever Benson’s ruling is.
“Got a f-ed up legal problem?” asks Judge Doug. “Who better to solve it than someone who is super f-ed up?”
Along with The High Court, Benson can be seen on his podcasts Getting Doug with High and Doug Loves Movies, and is a frequent guest on Comedy Central’s @midnight with Chris Hardwick. He’s played roles on shows like Trailer Park Boys, Trip Tank and The Jim Gaffigan Show, and is perhaps best known as the star of the 2007 documentary Super High Me.
The High Court is set to begin filming soon, with a premiere planned on Comedy Central for early 2017.
Yes, this guy, could sit in judgement over your case.
