Jon Stewart Returns to Stand Up at The Comedy Cellar

The Comedy Cellar stage, one of the locations that the "Louie" show is filmed.

Ever since Jon Stewart announced he was stepping down from his position as host of the Daily Show, the world speculated about what he would do next.  In March we got our answer when Daily Show correspondent Hasan Minhaj told us that Stewart was planning to return to stand up.

Last night, Sean McCarthy from The Comic’s Comic was at the Comedy Cellar in New York City to catch Stewart’s big return to the infamous New York City venue.  McCarthy said he also spotted Stewart hanging at the infamous comedians table upstairs at the Olive Tree.

“It’s been 20 years!” Stewart exclaimed offstage. Club owner Noam Dworman told The Comic’s Comic he remembers seeing Stewart drop in closer to a decade ago.  McCarthy mentioned that Stewart seemed as excited to be watching Louis C.K. on stage as everyone else was seeing Stewart in the room.

Jon Stewart still has a week left at the helm of The Daily Show before his reign ends on August 6th.
