Jon Glaser’s Offhand Joke Turned Into a Gig

Jon Glaser has a new show premiering on Adult Swim in December, and it’s all thanks to an offhand remark and a weird shirt.

Thursday night on The Tonight Show. Last time Glaser was on the Tonight Show, he wore a neon hat and sweatshirt, and Coors Light pants just to be weird. To continue the weirdness, he made a joke on the show that he was excited about his new show, “Neon Joe, Werewolf Hunter”. Adult Swim was watching that night, and they said, hey we saw that, and we know it’s a joke but it sounds funny, could that be a show? They invited Glaser to write a script, and now Neon Joe is real.

Neon Joe Werewolf Hunter is set in the pretend sleepy enclave of Garrity, VT. The neon-clad man with a mysterious past hunts werewolves, obviously. The half-hour live-action mini-series was created by Jon Glaser, produced by PFFR, and stars Glaser as “Neon Joe” with Scott Adsit, Stephanie March, Steve Little, and Steve Cirbus.
