Joan Rivers Wins Posthumous Grammy Award

Five months after passing away, Joan Rivers is now the Grammy Award winning Joan Rivers. She was the winner in the Best Spoken Word Album category for the audio book version of her best selling book, “Diary of a Mad Diva”.
Joan beat out an actor, a cult film director, a United States senator, a singer from the Disco era, and a former U.S. President for the Grammy Award. She was nominated against other audio readings from James Franco, John Waters, Elizabeth Warren, Gloria Gaynor and President Jimmy Carter.
Her daughter Melissa Rivers accepted the award on her behalf with Joan’s grandson Cooper. Melissa said that her mom would be thrilled and honored to have won her first Grammy Award. Joan was nominated for a Grammy for her 1983 comedy album, “What Becomes a Semi-Legend Most?” Melissa added that if Joan had been here for her Grammy win, she’d be making copies of it and selling them on QVC.
