Jimmy Kimmel is Hosting the Emmys This Year

ABC will be broadcasting the 68th Annual Primetime Emmys this year, so what better host than the network’s flagship comedian, and late night host Jimmy Kimmel. Kimmel announced the big news this morning on Twitter.

“I am excited to be hosting the Emmys again,” Kimmel said in a statement. “I have a feeling I’m going to be great.”

Kimmel last hosted the Emmys in 2012, which coincidentally (or not) was the last time the award show aired on ABC.  The Emmys are typically helmed by a prominent comedic personality from of the network which broadcasts that year’s award show. Last year Andy Samberg hosted on FOX- his show Brooklyn Nine Nine airs on Fox. Seth Meyers, who hosts Late Night on NBC hosted in 2014 on NBC, and when CBS last aired the Emmys Neil Patrick Harris provided hosting duties while also starring on the CBS smash hit How I Met Your Mother.

Nominations for the 68th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will be announced July 14th, and the award show will air on Sunday September 18th.
