Jim Parsons Starring as Buddy the Elf In New Animated Holiday Special

NBC announced that Jim Parsons will voice Buddy the Elf in a new stop-motion cartoon based on the 2003 Will Ferrell movie and the Broadway show based on the same material. It’s the story of Buddy making his way to New York City from the North Pole to find his real father and family.

NBC also said the special is using the stop-motion technique in the tradition of the classic Rankin-Bass holiday cartoons like “Rudolph, the Red-Nose Reindeer”, “The Little Drummer Boy” and “Santa Claus Is Comin’ To Town”.

“Elf: Buddy’s Musical Christmas” will feature 9 songs and along with Jim Parsons in the role that Will Ferrell brought to life, the cast includes the voices of Mark Hamill, Ed Asner, Fred Armisen, Jay Leno, Matt Lauer, Gilbert Gottfried, Kate Micucci, Rachael MacFarlane, Max Charles and Steve Higgins.

The hour long Christmas special airs Tuesday, December 16th at 8 pm et on NBC.
