Jerry Seinfeld Wins A Clio, Slams Advertising Industry in Acceptance Speech

Jerry Seinfeld was honored at the 55th Annual Clio Awards in New York City. The Clios are given out to award excellence in advertising. Seinfeld was given an honorary Clio for all he’s done for the industry including his Microsoft, Acura, HP and American Express commercials – which Superman went unrecognized for.
Seinfeld’s acceptance speech was an indictment of the advertising industry and really anyone who has ever fallen for a sales pitch. His rant was brutally honest including the reason why he loves advertising – because he really loves lying. He says all merchandise is crap and commercials let everyone believe for one fleeting moment that what they purchased isn’t defective. Of course that is until they get it home.
