Jerry Lewis and ‘Worst Movie Ever Made’ Joins National Film Registry

Jerry Lewis “The Day the Clown Cried” is the stuff of legends. A film so awful that you just have to see it. Lewis is the writer-director and stars as a clown who leads children to the gas chambers at Auschwitz.
Harry Shearer, is one of only seven people who have seen the Holocaust “comedy.”
“This movie is so drastically wrong, its pathos and comedy so wildly misplaced,” he said about the film, “that you could not, in your fantasy of what it might be like, improve on what it really is. ‘Oh, my God’ — that’s all you can say.”
Lewis donated the film to the Library of Congress back in August on one condition- no public showing will be held for 10 years.
2026 cannot get here fast enough.
