Thursday night was a great night for comedy fans on the Late Late Show.  Old and young, black and white, short and tall, comedy legend Mel Brooks shooting the shit with hilarious newcomer Jerrod Carmichael. It was pandemonium with spittakes, random loose cats walking around the set, it was really funny.  Carmichael was genuinely honored to be sharing the stage with Brooks, and there was also a great moment where Brooks genuinely broke up laughing at Carmichael’s hilarious tag to Brooks’ spit-take joke.

Later on, James Corden asked the two funnymen, are you the funniest people in your family?  Jerrod says no, he has a niece that is funnier than he is.  Brooks says he was one of the tallest in his family.  And he’s not very tall at all.  Brooks explained that he grew up with bunch of jews who lived in a tenement.  Oddly enough Jerrod said “we were too.”  Then Mel Brooks topped everyone with a great story about deciding he was going into show business when he was just a kid.

Earlier that evening, James Corden got to do something incredible– he got to co-star in a sketch with legendary comic Mel Brooks.  Corden and Brooks co-starred as two New York cops on a stakeout.  How do you get to co-star in a sketch with Mel Brooks? Well all you really need is your own Late Night Show, and Mel Brooks as a guest.  It’s good to be the king.
