This could be the beginning of Must-See Wednesday night TV on NBC. The network is scheduling two new comedies from two very funny people as the centerpiece of its Wednesday night line up starting August 5th.

At 9pm et, it’s the star of “The Office” and the “Hot Tub Time Machine” movies, Craig Robinson in “Mr. Robinson”. The sitcom is loosely based on Craig’s personal experience as a music teacher. “Mr. Robinson” is torn between his two lives. One as the front man for his funk band, Nasty Delicious and the other as a substitute music teacher working to make ends meet. And all this happens while butting heads with the school’s principal played by Frasier’s Peri Gilpin.

Following “Mr. Robinson” at 9:30pm et is Jerrod Carmichael starring in the sitcom inspired by his stand up, “The Carmichael Show”, (formerly called “Go Jerrod Go”). In the series co-created by Nick Stoller, Jerrod Carmichael navigates all the stressful relationships in his life. From his argumentative father to his zealously religious mother to his con man brother to his therapist-in-training girlfriend. “The Carmichael Show” co-stars David Alan Grier and Loretta Davis as Jerrod’s parents.

“Mr. Robinson” premieres Wednesday, August 5th at 9pm et followed by “The Carmichael Show” at 9:30pm et on NBC.
