It was announced today that the David Cross series, The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret will be returning for a third season on IFC television.  The series has been on hiatus for three years, but will pick up right where season two left off.

Where do you pick up from a series that last saw the end of the world as the lead character detonates a battery of nuclear bombs that incinerate the planet?  IFC’s President Jennifer Caserta explains, “Perhaps it was a poor decision for Todd to end the world, but working with David to bring this series back is a great decision for the fans.”

Cross sees the difficulty in creating a post-apocalypse storyline, but is ready for it. “The true thrill comes in figuring out how to extend a serialized episodic in which the world blows up at the end of series two. How do you do that for six episodes?!”   Well Shaun, Mark, and I are up to the challenge,” said Cross.   “I sincerely couldn’t ask for a better group of folks to be doing it for than the lovely ladies (and one dude now) at IFC. It is such a pleasure to work for them. They are a rarity in this business.”

If you haven’t been watching the series since its inception, the show follows Todd Margaret, an inept employee who bluffs his way into a senior sales position for a company that produces an energy drink Thunder Muscle.  Spoiler alert here, Todd manages to instigates a biohazard emergency at a major grocery store, gets swindled out of his Thunder Muscle stock by Turkish terrorists, disgraces a national tribute to fallen soldiers, gets arrested for breaking into Parliament, and at the conclusion of season two, as mentioned above–inadvertently blows up the world. The first two seasons featured comedy veteran Will Arnett (Arrested Development), and a great list of guest stars like Janeane Garofalo (Reality Bites), Jon Hamm (Mad Men), Spike Jonze (Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa), Amber Tamblyn (Two and a Half Men) and Russ Tamblyn (West Side Story).

Production will begin next year, with an expected air date sometime in 2015.
